specifically designed to teach their disabled clients
to swim. The Smart Fish Method used by the aforementioned organizations
turned out to be the most ideal and successfull method to use for
these special students.
In the early years, her method, which was so different from that
of the Red Cross and YMCA, was controversial, but in the last five
years, it has gained acceptance as a logical, efficient progression.
In fact, Ginny and her methodology was featured in notable magazines
such as LIFE Magazine (1975), American Health, Vanedadas, and Conozco
Mas. Also, she was featured on national television shows such as
Prime Time, 20/20, Montel Williams, CNN, World News Tonight, and
several local Los Angeles news shows.
Throughout the 30 plus years that Ginny has been teaching and training
other instructors to teach at her schools as well as at national
swim school conferences throughout the United States, she has been
developing the Smart Fish Method into an orderly schedule of steps
from the most very basic level of water adjustment to being able
to swim all four competitive strokes. Ginny continues to fine tune
the method so that all swim schools who use the Smart Fish Method
will benefit by the most current updates.
"I owe the development of Smart Fish Method to so many people
and experiences I've had along the way:
M y own swim coaches: David Pierce - in Northern Thailand &
Jim Montrella - Lakewood Aquatic Club (in Southern California)
Former Employer: Greta Anderson
Former and current staff of The Watersafe Swim School
My daughters: Karen and Shannon Flahive
All the students we've taught
Dave Salo and the rest of the coaching staff of Irvine Novquatics
Member schools of the United States Swim School Association

This child is actually DOING IT ALL with Comfort, Trust, and Knowledge
of Skill.
COMFORT
